February News

The Legion and VFW held their annual Holiday Dinner at

the Syracuse Country Club on Saturday evening, January 27th,

with a good size crowd attending. Ed Reed, Legion Commander,

was Master of Ceremonies and the meal was catered by Melody

Teten. Those attending from Unadilla were: Ed & Virginia Reed,

Chuck Bjork & Bev Wilhelm, and Bob & Barb Wilhelm. It was a

most enjoyable evening.

Get well wishes to Keith Kimbell, Rich Lechner,

and Char Burkhart.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

1916 children_from_a_book

Friday, 2-1-1918, The Otoe Union:

Rev. Fuqua of Paisley Church was taking a special course at

the Cotner College. No school for almost a week due to the

coal shortage. There were several letters received from the

"Sammies" from "somewhere in France." John Pell and Coy

Stoner were both on crutches. The young folks at Hopewell

held an oyster supper to say farewell to Opal & Mary Lunsford,

who were moving to Stella, and to welcome Harry, Chester,

Genevieve, and Gwendolyn Parker, who had moved here

from Kansas.
