Unadilla Area Foundation Meeting Minutes

10-14-2014

The Unadilla Area Foundation Meeting was held in the Duncan Building at 5:00 p.m. with all members present.  The committee members were joined by Sue Saathoff who has joined the advisory committee.  Thanks to the invitation from Peggy Leefers.

A discussion was held in regard to the attendance the annual meeting of the Nebraska Community Foundation.  Bob Brandt and his wife, Barb, will be attending on behalf of the Unadilla Area Foundation.  Donna Crownover will also be attending the meeting with her husband, Tyler.

Barb Wilhelm made a motion to reimburse John Moss $23.19 for paint which was used for repainting signs in the park.  John contributed his own time and labor to make our park sign more visible.

A discussion was held in regard to the All Fund Drive.  Additions and deletions of charities were discussed.  We will meet on November 11th at 9:00 a.m. at the Community Center to send out the All Fund Drive letters.  The postage will be paid by Countryside Bank this year.

Memorial tags for the trees in the park and a new flag pole for the park are still in process according to Bob.  Bob indicated that he hopes to have these things accomplished by year-end.

A general discussion was held in regard to suggested upcoming projects.  It was discussed that we could have a fund drive to establish a walk path in the park subject to Village approval.  The town has applied for Arboretum status for the park and other public areas in town.  This would be a nice partnership since the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum will give us suggestions and help plan the walk path, in addition to other enhancements.   A discussion was also held regarding the gymnasium roof, which will be a major expenditure for the town.  Funds may be required from the foundation to help finish this project by next July.  The estimated cost is in the $50,000 range.  The Village is planning to apply for a grant to help defer some of the expense.

Barb indicated that everybody was welcome to stay afterwards and partake in refreshments and in a cheese and meat platter provided for the committee by Countryside Bank.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
