REGULAR BOARD MEETING

March 10, 2021

 

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Unadilla, Nebraska, was held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 7:30 p.m. at the Unadilla Community Center, Suite 2. Notice of said meeting and proposed agenda of then known subjects was given by posting in the three following places within the Village: Countryside Bank, Post Office, and Community Center Notice Board; and by serving a copy of said notice to each member of the Board of Trustees more than 5 days prior to said meeting. Trustee’s present:  Dan Crownover, Dale Stoner, Janet Oelke, Scott Hincker and Clark Stubbendeck. Visitors: Fredrick Rumery, Tara Mueller and Josh Williams.

Chairman Crownover called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. He reminded everyone of the location of the Open Meetings Act Poster.

Hincker made a motion to approve the February 2021 minutes; Stubbendeck seconded, and on a roll call vote, Stoner, Oelke, Hincker, Stubbendeck and Crownover voted yea.  None voted nay. Motion carried 5-0.

Stoner made a motion to approve the February 2021 treasurer’s report, bank statements, reconciliation, and receipts, Oelke seconded. On a roll call vote, Stoner, Oelke, Hincker, Stubbendeck and Crownover voted yea.  None voted nay.  Motion carried 5-0.

         Hincker made a motion to approve the claims, seconded by Stubbendeck.  On a roll call vote, Stoner, Oelke, Hincker, Stubbendeck and Crownover voted yea. None voted nay, motion carried 5-0. 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

          The amount of the Keno check was $1,756.46.

          Water consumed: 644,000; water paid for: 481,000; balance for month:

 -163,000; YTD: -248,000. There was a water main break around 248 7th St.  Lovell Excavating was called to repair the beak.  Gana Trucking hauled in needed dirt to fill the hole and haul the broken cement out.  Doug Ebert renewed his wastewater license.

          Schoolhouse items:  Hemje Plumbing and Heating installed the new furnace for the kitchen and little kid’s room.  The 4 old furnaces did not work any longer.  One furnace was installed to replace the old ones and the duct work refigured to those rooms. A bill was submitted to the Unadilla Area Foundation for them to reimburse the Village for that furnace. Kurt Kastens electric was hired to do the electrical work.  Midland Duct Cleaning cleaned the ducts under the stage to the furnace room. 

          Body Basics will deliver the new treadmill and rowing machine, set them up and haul away old equipment on 3-12.  Keno funds will be used to purchase the equipment.

          Unadilla BBQ:  After discussion it was decided to wait another year to have the BBQ due to continuing spread of Covid.

          Street Project:  The USDA is working on the underwriting and waiting for the environmental reports to be returned.

          Quonset (OPPD) Property:  Crownover received word that OPPD was going to wait another month to discuss the Quonset property at their meeting.

          Public Comments:  Josh Williams and Tara Mueller bought property on 10th street and would like to build a house on both of those lots.  Discussion was held on if they were subdivided, which they will check with the county.  Setbacks, water, and sewer placements were also discussed.  Plans of the first house were presented to the board.  They will let the Board know when they receive more details.    

         

NEW BUSINESS        

         

          Unadilla cleanup day was discussed. Saturday June 19th will be the day. Clerk to contact Papillion Sanitation to see about a dumpster. 

          Oelke made a motion to approve the April bond interest payment of $6,752.50, Hincker seconded, on a roll call vote, Stoner, Oelke, Hincker, Stubbendeck and Crownover voted yea.  None voted nay.  Motion carried 5-0.

          Ball Park Projects were discussed.  Rock will be ordered for the parking on the south side by the bleachers and a truck of filing cement will be ordered to put in front of the bleachers and fence were people walk.   

          The list of delinquent water and sewer patrons was reviewed. Account #037, 075, 088, 098, 104, 114, 115, 137, & 141.

In correspondence: The Audit waiver was approved by the State Auditors Office.  A donation was made to the Community Center by Jim and Mary Pope.  In compliance with LB781 (State Auditors Office) 8 hours of continuing education were completed by Zahn. Jay Jensen donated his time tuning the piano here at the Community Center.
