The Flag Disposal Ceremony and the following meal at the Post Home last Tuesday went well and the weather was perfect. There was a nice crowd this year. Thanks to Bonnie Carlson for providing and serving the meal and to the members of the Legion Auxiliary for the desserts.

So sad to report the passing of Sheila (Koerner) Zavodny. She grew up in Unadilla, along with sister, Janet (Koerner) Lind, and parents, Floyd & Bev Koerner. Farewll cousin, you will be missed.
We heard they are tearing down Hopewell church so we went out for a visit. So many family memories there and some of our relatives are buried in the cemetery next to it. In 1924, they held 3 services every Sunday.

This is the event center southwest of Palmyra. Don't know much about it yet, except it's huge and beautiful!

Friday, 10-17-1924, The Otoe Union:
The 32nd annual convention of the Women's Christian Temperance Union (often referred to as the WCTU) was held at the Methodist Church in Unadilla. Mrs. Warren Andrews of Syracuse, gave a speech "The Patriotism and Power of the Ballot." Mrs. J.W. Darner of Unadilla was president of this organization. Thieves stole 80 "fine white Plymouth Rock chickens from the home of Arthur Witt, NE of town. They were the cream of the flock."

Synopsis: George and Charlotte Hay are fading stars of the 1950s currently playing Private Lives and Cyrano de Bergerac in Buffalo, New York. Personal and marital drama abounds when they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to see their matinee and if he likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie! Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong. This madcap comedy brings to light the chaos and magic of live theater!

COME ON OVER!
This is the way country music started out, with acoustic instruments, before electricity. People sat out on the lawn, on the porch, or in a friend’s house and played their instruments together. Enjoy the originality of music which is still present in many circles of friends.
