The Food Bank and local volunteers delivered items to 90+ families this past Friday. Events like this are just a few of the reasons we live in such a great community! Thank you everyone for volunteering on such a cold day. You're the best!
The Christmas Gathering
By Renowned Cub Reporter Bob Wilhelm
On Saturday morning, December 21st, a Christmas party was held at the prestigious Paisley Bottom Coffee Shop & Critical Thinking Laboratory. Again this year, as in many before, it was hosted by Dean Luff and sponsored by John Stilwell. There was a grand buffet of exquisitely catered eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, sausage gravy, and more. This was attended by many friends and acquaintances of John and Dean. After a few words and season's greetings from John, we were treated to a wonderful rendition of a Christmas program poem that Ron (Elf in the Shed) had presented in his youth. A good time was had by all! Thank you John and Dean.
Speaking of celebrations, Groundhog Day will be here before you know it!

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO
Friday, 1-7-1925, The Otoe Union:
In the monthly Village report: "Paid school board, back tab license: $145. 05" (Any ideas? Maybe misspelled the abreviation for tobacco?) "Tom Lucas is looking after the Lucas ranch while Fred is visiting the Rio Grande Valley. He says he doesn't have to do much except milk 7 cows, feed 100 head of hogs, look after 40 head of cattle and 14 horses, and saw up a little wood while he is resting!" The average rent for a house in Unadilla was $12/month.
