Bob and I attended the joint meal of the local VFW and Legion posts at the Syrause Country Club Sunday evening. The food was catered by Valentino's out of Nebraska City, and was "all you could eat". Great food, fun conversations, and great entertainment! Thanks to the VFW for hosting this year.

The Unadilla Community Library will be hosting a reception to honor Peggy Leefers on Saturday, February 1st, from 9:00 to 11:00 at the library. Peggy was one of the founding members of the library and has volunteered many, many hours over the past twenty plus years.  Please stop in for cake and coffee and to join us in honoring Peggy!

(It was -11 degrees when we got up this morning (Tuesday)...hoping for warmer weather!!!)

Rest in peace

So sad to report the passing of (Merwyn) Eloise (Lauderback) Stubbendeck. She was 98, the wife of Edgar, and worked for many years at Russell Stover. Eloise was well known in Unadilla and was a wonderful and caring friend to me and my mother. She will be missed.

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

 Boy reading newspaper 250

Friday, 1-23-1925, The Otoe Union:

Folks were excited about the upcoming eclipse. Most men were reported cutting wood or hunting wolves. The Unadilla town basketball team defeated the Syracuse Do Drop Inn team, and the next night beat the Dunbar All Stars team. (The temperature then was about what it is now!)
