Happy Groundhog Day 495

Hope to see you this weekend!

This week we celebrate all things "Groundhog"! To see the schedule of events, please go to our website: Unadilla Bill - Groundhog Celebration. Wednesday evening (tonight) there will be a meet and greet at the Duncan Building for all new residents and the public is invited. The parade starts at 2 p.m., Saturday, with the crowning of the new King & Queen immediately after the parade. Shirts still available at Nitty Gritty. (Groundhog Day is officially celebrated on February 2nd.) We will have Unadilla Billie's "official prediction" next week!

Honor Band Program 450

Have to brag a little bit on our grandson Brody. He was chosen for the Iowa Western Honor Band. He plays the Euphonium. It is a medium sized 3 or 4 valve brass instrument (we didn't know what it was either!) About 60 kids attended from Nebraska and Iowa, spent the day together, and then gave a concert in the evening. It was SO worth the drive!

NEWS FROM 100 YEARS AGO

Boy reading newspaper 250

Friday, 1-30-1925, The Otoe Union:

Esther Rickets, teacher at Dist. #53, Harmony School, organized a "rope club". She stated, "if club members master the Hay rope splice, their efforts in this particular project will have been well rewarded." The Farmer's Union held their annual meeting and Fred Wallen, Otto Stubbendeck, and Charles Dorman we re-elected officers. "A fine little baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. K.C. Stoner." (You will remember her as Rose Marie Brandt.) Ralph Lincolns' also had a baby girl.
