FEEDBACK ON THE SQUIRREL STORY
by Wildlife Cub Reporter Bob Wilhelm
After last weeks story on the Syracuse squirrels hit the airwaves I received a lot of feedback and most of it was less than complimentary with questions about my state of mind when I was writing it. This was also the case when I arrived at the Paisley Bottom Coffee Shop and Critical Thinking Laboratory where one would expect a little more open minded acceptance for this type of obervation. After a little research by the research department at the Laboratory Steve had some additional information that he had uncovered about squirrel nests. It seems that not all squirrel nests are for residential purposes. That was surprising to some. Some nests are for food storage, some are for winter living and some are for summer living. He was unable to rule out however, that some are used as squirrel daycare centers. So next summer watch very closely which nests have little window air conditioners on the side of the nest. I now feel vindicated!

Our sincere condolences to Jo Lewis and children on the passing of Tom Lewis. Many of you will remember him as he grew up in Unadilla, son the Glen and Leona, graduating from Syracuse High in the Class of 1966. He will be laid to rest in the Unadilla Cemetery. Farewell old friend.
