We have some amazing trees in Unadilla! These are located on the property of Travis & Tonya Johnson. They were measured by Justin Evertsen, who works for Nebraska Forest Service and is in charge of the champion trees of Nebraska registry. Food for thought: these trees were here before Unadilla was settled! The largest of the two is 100 feet tall and 26 feet in circumference. Thanks for sharing Bob Brandt!

The Unadilla Area Fund will be celebrating the first annual "Onionfest" at the Park Shelter in conjunction with the Unadilla Summer Celebration. It starts at 8 a.m. with vegetable entries, ending at 9 am. One entry of onions and two other vegetables will be judged as a group. Prizes will be awarded for the best overall display, and also for the largest onion! Display the vegetables as a group in the same numbers as you would at the County Fair. (Check in date for the Otoe County Fair is Thursday, July 31st).
Entries will be given away to elderly citizens in the Unadilla and surrounding areas, to be delivered immediately after the conclusion of the event at 12:00. You may also designate elderly persons for your display, if you want to deliver them yourself.
The Cub Scouts will be selling hot dogs and chips out of the kitchen area of the shelter. Each entrant will receive a $5 credit to the food stand.
