The March meeting of the Otoe County Genealogical Society met at the
Unadilla Library, Thursday, March 8, with 18 members and 5 visitors
present. Raymond "Chuck" Waymire, Omaha, gave a presentation on
his Scottish ancestors, and the methodology of his research. Many of
his family lived near and are buried at the Hopewell Cemetery. Chuck
provided the attendees with three handouts. He also provided a short
synopsis of the five books and one index he has written. At the end
of the program, he donated three of his books to the library and was
kind enough to autograph them. Following the program, he answered
questions and visited with many of the members. He was
accompanied by his wife, Florence. Light refreshments were served.

Saturday, March 10, Lois Johnson, and Bob & Barb Wilhelm, went to
Hallam for the Legion and Auxiliary District 12 Convention. The town
has nearly completed its recovery from the devastating tornado a few
years back. The convention was held in a new community center and
the accomodations were fantastic. A joint meeting was held in the
morning with Darrel Draper portraying Teddy Roosevelt to close the
session. A delicious noon meal was served and an auction of
donated items was held afterwards. Then the men and women held
separate business meetings. All in all, it was a most enjoyable day,
with much accomplished.
