7-4, 7-5, 7-6   Village Office Closed for Holiday

Unadilla Day, June 23rd, started out raining with lots of lightning and wind. After about a 3 hour delay, the Unadilla Fun Run took off with 50+ runners/walkers. The winners were:

Men's Division: 1st, Eddie Paden, Syracuse,;2nd, Brian Harrifeld, Lincoln; 3rd, Charles Bausch, Adams

Women's Division: 1st, Emily Bausch, Adams; 2nd, Tammie Mead, Syracuse; 3rd, Michelle Zahn, Syracuse

Youth 13-17: 1st, Riley Porter, Unadilla; 2nd, Kade Baker, Unadilla; 3rd Madalynne Stubbendick, Unadilla

Children's 12 & under: Tied for 1st, Kayla Arnold, Dunbar, & Emma Porter, Unadilla; 2nd, Elizabeth Johnson, Syracuse; 3rd, Morgan Leefers, Syracuse

Honorable Mention: (the "Under 30 minutes Club") Kim Goering, Dawn Dettmer, Sharon Baker, Tyler Crownover, and Sherilyn Damme.

Thanks to Susanna Porter, Sharon Baker, and crew for organizing and sponsoring this event. They did a terrific job as usual!

Thanks to Cassie Royal for organizing the sand volleyball six-team double elimination tournament. First place went to Lindsey Herman's team, second to Ashley Randall's team, and third to Albert Lorenzo's team

There were 20+ garage sales in town and everyone reported a brisk business. Many treasure's were found!

A 16-team double elimination Horseshoe Pitching Tournament started at 1:00 p.m. Tim Boerner was the official scorekeeper. Donations were received towards adding one more pit for next year.

The water slide opened about the same time. What can be said, except that everyone, young and old, had a great time going down the hill, and the pool at the bottom was a cool respite. This was a treat from the Village Board and was free to the public. (Plans are already being made for next year!)

At 4:30, the registration started for the Lil' Tugger's Tractor Pull on the tennis court. Four year old winners were: London Rohlfs and Ryan Damme; age 5: Jordyn Pella & Collin Oelke; age 6: Natalie Abresch & Ethan Rohlfs; age 7: Gabriel Goes (no girls pulled); age 8: Nolan Werner & Brooklyn Demanett; age 9: Alexis Rohlfs (no boys pulled); age 10: Nate Harder & Maisie Hillman; no age 11 pullers; age 12 Simone & Cain Wallen.

Congratulations to all the participants! Qualifiers are eligible to pull at the State Fair

Members of the Village Board, the Unadilla Area Foundation, their spouses, other volunteers, and moms and members of Girl Scout Troop 21, served 400+ at the evening meal.

Dan Masters and Orchard Hill Catering did a super job in preparing the meat and beans. The Southeast Nebraska Community Ban performed during the meal, the patriotic songs receiving the loudest applause. What a great bunch of people these musicians are.

Additional thanks go out to TR Unadilla Mart, who kept us supplied with ice, and to the great volunteers who showed up Sunday morning to finish the job of cleaning up. Thanks to Bob Wilhelm, Andrea Stubbendick, and Michele Hillman for additional photographs.

From the program for Unadilla's 4th of July celebration: "Horseshoe pitching - age 50 years or older, 50 yard dash - ladies only, 100 yard dash - men only, and a shoe tieing contest - open to all ages." A gasoline vapor street light was installed at the corner by the Bank, on trial by the manufacturer.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that RA Wassenberg Inc dba The Bar has filed in due form for an annual catering license.

Said applicant’s place of business is 359 Main Street, Unadilla, NE 68454.

Notice is hereby given that written protests to the issuance of said license may be filed by any resident of the Village of Unadilla on or before 7:30 p.m. on July 11, 2012, in the office of the Village Clerk, Unadilla Community Center, in the Village of Unadilla, Nebraska. At that time a hearing will be held to determine whether said license should be allowed.

Visitors needing special accommodations should contact the Village Office at least five (5) days prior to the hearing date.
