we have a new deputy clerk, Linda Effle.

Linda and her husband, Jim, have lived in Unadilla for a few years

and they have 3 children. Stop in and say "Hi".

The Village Board held their monthly meeting last Wednesday night.

Lynn Schomerus will be running for a second term, Arliss

Wassenberg will not. The main items of discussion was the

upcoming paving project, scheduled to begin in the spring of 2013.

Mindi Clarke, CPA, was present and went over the budget for the

next fiscal year, which begins October 1. The meetings are open to

the public, so please attend and share your concerns.

OCGS held their meeting at the Unadilla Library last Thursday night.

Upcoming events are: workshops, Wyuka Cemetery Walk, the Walk

of Memories, and the Home of the Brave Quilt Program.

Bob Wilhelm would like to thank everyone, workers AND players,

who patronized the Bingo stand at the Otoe County Fair and reminds

you that all the proceeds go to Youth Programs.

Barb Wilhelm, American Legion Auxiliary President, and Maisie and

Madison Hillman, Junior Auxiliary members, decorated a golf cart and

rode in the Veteran's Parade, Monday, August 13th. The crowd and

the participant numbers were larger than ever.

Amanda Davis has reported the group art project that came out of

the Art Camp will be on display at the Unadilla Library before it goes

up for sale. Watch this newsletter for more information

cooking water. Whether boiling eggs, pasta, or vegetables, let the

water cool, and then use on plants and gardens. Use caution if you're

using a canner or pressure cooker, as the water may not be as

cool as you think.

Friday, 8-16-1912, The Otoe Union:

Steve Wilcox bought the Deal farm. The Farmer's Elevator received

72 loads of wheat in one week. "Byron Barker has purchased the

DuBois lot on Main Street and will erect a building thereon."

Plans were being made for two more brick buildings west of

Gorsage's barber shop. One would be a harness shop (now the

Post Office), and the other a cream station (Classic Cuts).
