From Becki: "Thought I'd let Unadilla see that the Hickman's can
dress up! November 10, we attended the US Embassy Beijing Ball
at the Marriot Hotel. They were celebrating their 237th birthday.
There were over 600 people in attendance and the Marines put on
a nice program. The Ambassador spoke for a few minutes, then
they had a birthday cake cutting ceremony, giving the first piece
to the oldest Marine at the ball, he was 85. The youngest Marine
assigned to the post just turned 22 and has only been at the
Embassy for 2 weeks. Lots of drinks, food, dancing, and fun.
We had our clothes made at one of the many tailor shops
when we were in Hoi An, Vietnam, a few weeks earlier.

is having a facelift and really looks nice.
What an improvement to Main Street.

Friday, 11-22-1912, The Otoe Union:
The Henry Riley family moved to Douglas; the Jack Callaway
family moved into the house vacated by Rileys'. The Botsford building
was torn down and rebuilt across the street. (Any ideas where this
might have been?). Daisy Hull was teaching at
District #25, Eden Hill.
