It usually takes between 2 and 3 gigabytes to run this webpage, but the day

before Groundhog Day, we "pegged the meter" at 5.8! It is good to know

that our site is being used. More photos have come in and are being added

Bob Wilhelm and Ron & Lois Johnson were among the 31 attendees

at the Otoe County Legion & Auxiliary Convention held at the Unadilla

Community Center on February 10th. Retaining their offices for

another year are: County Commander, Virgil Halvorsen; County

Adjutant, Joy Schroeder; County Auxiliary President, Wilma Halvorsen;

County V-P, Judy Schwab; and County Sectretary/Treasurer,

Karen Chaffin. Area 12 Commander Jim Varejka, and Otoe County

Service Officer, Marv Peshek, were the speakers. Posts from

Nebraska City, Palmyra, Syracuse, and Talmage were represented.

7 p.m. There will not be Circle on 2-14. Due to the Lenten service

potlucks and bible study, there will be no Youth Group until after

A farewell reception was held for Dr. & Mrs. McIntyre at the town hall.

"A nice lunch consisting of sandwiches, pickles, cake, and coffee was

served." Uncle John Higby went to Omaha to live with his son.

J.L. Ellis of Craig, CO, was approved as the new minister of the

Christian Church. Anna D. Kammann and Fred Rohlfs were married.

'The Hallelujah Girls' Make a Joyful Noise at Mahoney State Park

KBC Productions opens "The Hallelujah Girls" on January 21 at the Kountze Theater inside Mahoney State Park. The female comedy runs weekends through February 19.
After they losing a close friend, the women of Eden Falls, Georgia realize that time is precious and they've got to work fast to achieve their dreams. Sugar Lee Thompkins opens a the 'Spa-Dee-Dah' day spa in an abandoned church. See the women launch new lives in this joyful comedy that will make you shout, "Hallelujah!"
Starring in the ensemble cast are Shari Hoelker, Ann Huxtable-Scates and Allison Tiller of Omaha; Brandy Palatas of Papillion, Melinda Mead and David Willingham of Plattsmouth, Brenda Jones of Louisville and Randy Young of Murdock.
Production dates are January 21, 22, 27-29, February 3-5, 10-12, 14, and 17-19. Showtimes on Fridays and Saturdays are 7:30pm and Sunday afternoon matinees at 2pm. Manley, NE [January 14, 2013] - Returning to the Lofte Community Theatre for the third consecutive year, ladies and gentlemen, "It's Elvis!"
That's right, back by popular demand, Nebraska native, Joseph Hall will amaze you with his live performance as Elvis Presley. On Saturday, February 23 you can see Elvis at 2pm, 7pm or both. Description - Work as part of a small dynamic team to develop and provide experiential programs for all ages focused on agriculture appreciation and environmental education. Programs use rustic facilities and the outdoors for activities.

Irish Music Concert

Irish Scene

Greenblatt & Seay's Schoolhouse Performance Series features a concert of Irish music on Sunday, March 10, at 2:30 PM. Greenblatt & Seay & Friends will be singing and playing a variety of instruments, including fiddle, pennywhistle, guitar, hammered dulcimer, and banjo. Traditional Irish tunes will be featured, along with some Greenblatt & Seay originals inspired by the great Irish traditions. Greenblatt & Seay have been playing and singing together since the night they met, decades ago. Their performance on March 10 will include the championship fiddling styles of Deborah Greenblatt, and the fancy whistle-playing of David Seay. The concert will be downstairs, and followed by light refreshments, and a chance to chat and even jam with the performers. Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13 C Spur, one mile south of Highway 34. Admission is $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and senior citizens, and $1.00 for children. SCHOOLHOUSE IRISH FIDDLING CAMP

The Old Avoca Schoolhouse in Avoca, Nebraska will be hosting a special "Schoolhouse Irish Fiddling Camp", for fiddlers, violists, guitarists, and ukulele players. The sessions will be led by championship fiddler and author, Deborah Greenblatt. The camp will be on Wednesday, March 13 - Friday, March 15, from 9 AM to 1 PM. You can sign up for 1 day, or 2 days, or all 3 days. On Wednesday, participants will be mostly reading tunes, using sheet music in standard notation. We'll be learning melodies, harmonies, and chords. You will be improving your sight reading, and experiencing fiddling fun. On Thursday, we will be mostly playing tunes by ear, so feel free to bring your recording gadgets. Sheet music versions of the tunes will be provided for you by the end of camp, just in case your ears need the help. On Friday, we will be mostly jamming, modulating, singing, dancing, experimenting, sharing, and playing fiddle related instruments. One day: $60.00 Two days: $110.00 ($55 per day) Three days: $150.00 fee for 3 days.
