Tuesday, March 10, members of Massie-Richards Legion Post #100 and their Auxiliary treated members to a corned beef and cabbage dinner. The meal was prepared and served by Bob Wilhelm, Roy Bretthorst, and Larry Earhart. The patriotic cake was provided by the Auxiliary. After the meal, members were honored vor their continuous membership and service. Auxiliary President, Lois Johnson, and Secretary, Bev Wilhelm, presented awards to Viola Gartner, 70 years; Norma LaFollette, 50 years; Donna Mae Jacobson and Judy Pope, 40 years. Commander Ed Reed and Adjutant Bob Wilhelm presented awards to these members: Morris Knake, 25 years; Ralph Brockhoff and Steven Lade, 30 years; Darrell Brinkhoff, Keith Kimbell, James Pierce, Robert Ruhge, and Harvey Vogt, 40 years; Gerry Davis, Gordon Hopp, James Jensen, Kenneth Mueller, Thomas Rodaway, Gary Royal, Ronald Wenninghoff, and Dale Young, 45 years; Willard Farmer, Jr., 50 years; Delton Eisenhauer, Gerald Goering, and Arlen Michel, 60 years; and Glenn Petersen and Don Van Housen, 70 years. Sue Saathoff will soon be our "head librarian" but still assisted by
Peggy Leefers. Sue isn't new to our community but has recently
retired, so you may not know her. The Library will keep its normal
hours for now which are Thursday night, 5-7 pm, and Saturday
morning, 9-11 am. Did you know our Library has over 10,000
books! They include adult fiction, student fiction, children's books,
Unadilla and Nebraska history, self-help books, reference books,
and so very much more. New titles: "American Sniper" by Chris
Kyle, "The Things We Do For Love" by Kristin Hannah, and

The final show of the winter season at Kountze Memorial Theatre in Mahoney State Park is "Farce of Nature" by Jones, Hope, and Wooten.
It is a Southern-fried farce depicting one day at the struggling Reel'em Inn fishing lodge where a lone guest is being housed as part of the government's witness protection program. The mobster he's hiding from and his sexy wife, who is quite taken with the lodge owner's son show up. The witness tries to disguise himself and hilarity ensues. An absent-minding gun toting maid, wild animal noises, and run for your life humor keep the show moving. Romance among the couples, some of which is created by hypnotic suggestion, floods the stage and is sure to win you over - hook, line, and sinker.

FIDDLE FABLES
Greenblatt & Seay's Schoolhouse Performance Series features championship fiddler/composer, Deborah Greenblatt, in "Fiddle Fables", on Sunday, April 12, at 2:30 PM, in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse.
With the help of her fabulous five-string fiddle Deborah Greenblatt explores some of the trials, tribulations, and lessons that fiddlers often have in common. There is advice for the beginner (“It Starts With Your Feet”), advice for the fiddler’s families (“Have Mercy”), for the growing fiddler (“Shopping For a Fiddle Blues”), for the brave fiddler (“I’m Gonna Fiddle In a Contest”), as well as the fiddler who plays the viola (“Out of Fiddle, Out of My Mind”). There are also inspiring stories of real-life fiddlers (“Cactus Pete”), teachers (“Alice Johnson’s Jig”), and students (“Mary Ann the Fiddler”).
The concert will be downstairs, followed by light refreshments, and a chance to chat and jam with Greenblatt & Seay. Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13 C Spur, one mile south of Highway 34.
