Village Maintenance would like to remind everyone that the only
things accepted at the burn pile are trees, branches, and
unfinished lumber. No leaves or garbage please. This could
make us lose our permit with the state, and there no longer
would be a burn pile.
Sunday, March 23, Unadilla Fire & Rescue held their annual
spring banquet. Members of the UVFR and the rural board along
with their spouses were invited to attend. As of March 23, UVFR
had responded to 21 fire and rescue calls. This compares to 33
for all of 2014.

During 2014, Irene Rodaway responded to the most rescue calls
followed closely by Gordon Hopp.
Tyler receiving award from Chief Vodicka
Tyler Crownover responded to the most fire calls.
Annette Block was inducted as the first Honorary Member of
the Rescue Squad, after "retiring" from service last year with
more than 15 years of service completed. Steve Vodicka is
the Fire Chief and Ben Leseberg is the Rescue Captain.
Kathryn Romine receives award for 10 years of service
Celebrating anniversaries: 20 years, Linda Liesemeyer, Donna
Speth, Betty Vodicka, and Steve Vodicka; 15 years, Irene

Friday, 4-2-1915, The Otoe Union:
"J.M. Morgan attended the conference of assessors at
Nebraska City Monday and will call in a few days to see how
poor you are." The barn of E.L. Busch, 3 miles east of Unadilla,
burned to the ground. All the livestock was saved except one
calf. There were some very interesting bills introduced in
the Nebraska Legislature: among them one compelling
the National Guard to do 90 days work each year on the roads
and bridges of the state, and one prohibiting free lunches.

FARCE OF NATURE
The final show of the winter season at Kountze Memorial Theatre in Mahoney State Park is "Farce of Nature" by Jones, Hope, and Wooten.
It is a Southern-fried farce depicting one day at the struggling Reel'em Inn fishing lodge where a lone guest is being housed as part of the government's witness protection program. The mobster he's hiding from and his sexy wife, who is quite taken with the lodge owner's son show up. The witness tries to disguise himself and hilarity ensues. An absent-minding gun toting maid, wild animal noises, and run for your life humor keep the show moving. Romance among the couples, some of which is created by hypnotic suggestion, floods the stage and is sure to win you over - hook, line, and sinker.

FIDDLE FABLES
Greenblatt & Seay's Schoolhouse Performance Series features championship fiddler/composer, Deborah Greenblatt, in "Fiddle Fables", on Sunday, April 12, at 2:30 PM, in the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse.
With the help of her fabulous five-string fiddle Deborah Greenblatt explores some of the trials, tribulations, and lessons that fiddlers often have in common. There is advice for the beginner (“It Starts With Your Feet”), advice for the fiddler’s families (“Have Mercy”), for the growing fiddler (“Shopping For a Fiddle Blues”), for the brave fiddler (“I’m Gonna Fiddle In a Contest”), as well as the fiddler who plays the viola (“Out of Fiddle, Out of My Mind”). There are also inspiring stories of real-life fiddlers (“Cactus Pete”), teachers (“Alice Johnson’s Jig”), and students (“Mary Ann the Fiddler”).
The concert will be downstairs, followed by light refreshments, and a chance to chat and jam with Greenblatt & Seay. Avoca is in southern Cass County, Nebraska, on the 13 C Spur, one mile south of Highway 34.
