The Unadilla Area Foundation met at 10:00 a.m. with Peggy Leefers, Maureen Vogt, Bob Brandt, and Barb Wilhelm present. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved without any additions or corrections.

   Bob informed the members that the Kimmel Foundation was meeting today to hopefully approve the grant application for the park shelter. Estimated cost is over $33,000. Ernie Neyeth currently chairs the Board of Directors of the Kimmel Foundation. The application was reviewed with the board members and it was noted that $13,405. had been raised for the park shelter to date.

   Peggy indicated that she is getting confirmation for the tentative schedule for Groundhog Day, February 6, 2010. The items scheduled at the school are as follows: silent auction 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Christian Church Bake Sale 9:00 a.m., lunch by Moma Prelle's 11:00 a.m., Flea Market 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., photos, short story, and poster contest winners awarded at 10:00 a.m., and speakers Greg Wagner and Dick Turpin at 2:30 p.m. It was also noted that the soup contest will be held in the Duncan Building with entries being accepted from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. We will also have the crowning of the King and Queen at 1:30 p.m. just after announcing the winners of the soup contest. The Junior High marching band will be given hot dogs at the Duncan Building, if they agree to march.

   Bob noted that Teresa Liesemeyer had donated six sedum plants to be planted in the park south of Main Street. It was noted that anyone wishing to donate perennials that are low maintenance need to contact Bob Brandt in advance.

   The picture for the Groundhog shirts was prepared by Jamison Bennett. Bob will get the artwork ready for the printer and email a copy to Barb Wilhelm at the Village Office so she can post the picture on the website.

   Bob also indicated that he would check into the Otoe County Tourism Committee to see if funds were available for advertising. The Foundation is also looking for a place for Greg Blecka to play, other than the Duncan Building. There needs to be some suggestions in regard to this by the next meeting, which will take place November 17, 2009.

   Approximately 300 letters for the Unadilla Area All Fund Drive were mailed to Unadilla and area residents. There was over $5600. collected in the fund drive in 2008. Envelopes were supplied by Countryside Bank and the postage by the Village.
