FRENCHMAN RUNS ACROSS THE USA
By International Cub Reporter Bob Wilhelm
Wednesday morning, while at Nitty Gritty Gas & Thrift, where you can fill all your travel and other needs, I noticed that the proprietor, Dan, was talking with a fellow who had a heavy French accent. This man had arrived in an RV with signage about a cross-country San Francisco to New York City run. He was one of four people from France providing support to their fellow countryman, Stephane Mathieu. He said that Stephane had started running that morning at 5 and would run until about 9 that evening, with the hope of logging in about 71 miles. Their goal is to make this run of 4800 km's in 42 days and to raise funding for "Les Parents d'Hugo" for children with cancer. It was created by the parents of Hugo after he was diagnosed with cancer at a very young age. I went to his website, transusa.solustop.com and was able to find the route Stephane was taking and was able to catch up to him N\E of Syracuse on H Road between 36th and 38th Roads. I spoke with him briefly and wished him good luck. For more details, go to the above website if you are interested.

The 2+ inches of rain has encouraged the wild Jerusalem artichokes to bloom. Located in the front of Mal's, the roots were a very healthy food for Indians, before the European settlers came to American. It is a member of the sunflower family.

This seven sons shrub is now blooming in the south downtown Unadilla streetscape. Blooms will be followed by little red berries and the trunk will turn reddish brown.
